Mutliplier event with the 5th Lyceum of Volos 20/1/2026

On January 20, 2026 we had the pleasure of working with students and educators from the 5th Lyceum of Volos, who engaged in a biomimicry workshop in the context of a multiplier event that promoted project outcomes awareness and uptake.

The event engaged 40 secondary education students and their teachers in an interactive educational experience focused on biomimicry, sustainability, and practical problem-solving. Through collaborative design activities, participants explored how natural strategies can inspire innovative responses to local climate change challenges.

Students were familiarised with biomimicry concepts, steps, and examples, before engaging in a hands-on activity for designing solutions inspired by natural models and processes for improving quality of life and supporting sustainability in the town of Volos.

Students selected challenges, such as addressing air pollution, fire prevention, heat in the city, biodiversity preservation, and more. They researched natural models and processes such as termite mounds for natural cooling, coral reefs for preventing shore erosion, green spaces in cities for absorbing CO2 and natural cooling, and more. Students used the examples to design their own solutions, which they presented to their fellow school mates at the end of the workshop.

The event was very successful, with educators expressing interest in repeating the activity with a different set of students in the coming school year.
