The LET’s MIMIC multiplier event in Portugal was successfully organised on 29 September 2026 at Escola Profissional de Campanhã, a vocational education and training school located in Porto, Portugal.

The school specialises in vocational programmes related to digital technologies, including multimedia, programming, and digital marketing. These fields provide opportunities to explore how biomimicry can support creative thinking, innovative design, digital problem-solving, and sustainability-oriented professional practices.

The event brought together 39 participants, including 30 VET students and nine teachers, who were introduced to the LET’s MIMIC project, its biomimicry methodology, and its digital learning resources.

The multiplier event aimed to show how nature-inspired design can address real-world environmental challenges while encouraging learners to develop creativity, collaboration, environmental awareness, and innovative problem-solving skills.

The event placed particular emphasis on addressing climate change impacts affecting Portugal, encouraging students to explore how natural processes, biological adaptations, and ecosystem strategies can inspire solutions to pressing environmental problems. The workshop focused on challenges relevant to Portugal, including forest fires and environmental resilience.

The event also demonstrated LET’s MIMIC’s potential to integrate sustainability education into digital technology-oriented vocational training, connecting green competencies with the creative and technical skills developed through programmes in multimedia, programming, and related fields.

The multiplier event featured an interactive presentation and hands-on biomimicry workshop, combining an introduction to the LET’s MIMIC project, exploration of biomimicry principles, practical use of the digital learning platform, and collaborative development of nature-inspired solutions.

The session began with a presentation of the LET’s MIMIC project, its objectives, activities, and main educational outcomes. Participants learned about the project’s approach to promoting green and digital competencies through biomimicry-based learning, innovative pedagogy, and technology-enhanced educational resources.

The presentation highlighted how biomimicry encourages learners to observe natural systems, identify biological strategies, and translate these principles into innovative solutions to human challenges. Through accessible examples, students explored how nature can inspire solutions to environmental problems and support sustainable innovation.

The session highlighted biomimicry’s relevance to climate change adaptation and environmental challenges affecting Portugal. The discussion encouraged participants to reflect on familiar environmental problems and consider how nature-inspired solutions could help reduce environmental risks and strengthen community resilience.

After the introductory presentation, students explored the LET’s MIMIC Digital Learning Platform in a hands-on session. Working in pairs, they tested the platform and explored its educational resources and structured biomimicry activities.
